Koetong / Shelley
Koetong and Shelley are located on the Murray Valley Highway between Corryong and Tallangatta and gives access to Mt Lawson State Park. The town of Koetong was originally one of Cobb & Co’s changing stations. The Koetong hotel, circa 1883, offers an interesting “watering hole” for visitors on their way to or from the area.
Visit Shelley to view the lovingly restored highest railway station in Victoria and the historic Avondale Gardens, a worthwhile and interesting 12 klms from the highway. A number of original railway trestle bridges can be accessed nearby and/or seen from the main Murray Valley Highway.
The area is abundant in walking trails and views, and is well known to birdwatchers for its wide variety of bird species.
