Maurie Foun – a local Corryong Poet

Many talented poets have been inspired by the beautiful Upper Murray area around Corryong. Maurie Foun is one of these poets. After a mountaintop encounter with an eagle Maurie knew that he had made the right decision to leave Melbourne. Hence he created The Resting Place – Poet’s Paradise. Poet’s Paradise is an ecofriendly stopping place for lovers of the wide open spaces. It offers peace, tranquillity and also a meeting place for like-minded people.

Watch and listen to Maurie Foun as he recites the famous “Banjo” Paterson’s poem, The Man From Snowy River. You can also hear a recording of the Man from Snowy River when you Corryong. The statue and recording can be found outside the Corryong Visitor Information Centre.
